There once lived a pirate named Gol D. Roger. He obtained wealth, fame, and power to earn the title of Pirate King. When he was captured and about to be executed, he revealed that his treasure called One Piece was hidden somewhere at the Grand Line. This made all people set out to search and uncover the One Piece treasure, but no one ever found the location of Gol D. Roger's treasure, and the Grand Line was too dangerous a place to overcome. Twenty-two years after Gol D. Roger's death, a boy named Monkey D. Luffy decided to become a pirate and search for Gol D. Roger's treasure to become the next Pirate King.
I was a big fan of naruto before one piece and when the whole filler part began i quit on naruto and began to search for something else.I had heard from a friend that one piece is truly phenomenal and i gave it a try..the first thing i noticed was the original style of animation and the lovable voice luffy had..and then the story got to me,and the characters,and places,and music,and here i am 285 episodes later craving for the next episode.The scope of Monkey D Luffy's and his nakama's(friend or more exactly comrades)journey is amazing.The characters are the best i have ever seen in an animation..the story is really good and the fight scenes really pack a punch and deliver that WOW effect that is missing in other anime.The adventures can be unbelievable funny and at other times incredible sad..i had never cried because of an anime but this got to me..some of the backstory of the characters is really really sad.The interaction between these incredible characters is justgoodthe fight scenes..i will stop here with the ranting and say that is without a doubt the greates anime i have ever seen..it left me speechless the first time i saw it and it leaves me speechless now..truly a masterpiece..i highly recommend it. PS I am talking here about the Japanese original show,the subed One Piece and not about that horrendus thing that 4Kids has made out of One Piece.You just have to get your hands on the sub from various places and enjoy the greatest adventure ever told..it speaks to your inner child like no other story.
One Piece in my opinion is the worst anime I have watched in history of animes. It's not because the subbed is better then the dub (I never watch any anime that is subbed, I always watch it when its dubbed because of language reasons) and it's not because of the theme.<br/><br/>It's because I find the characters very annoying especially because of Lufley and Tony Tony Chopper's voices. Luffy's voice is so unbearable that my ears hurt from listening to it and Tony Tony Chopper's voice sounds like if he/she is getting choked and it's just forced. But hey at least Happy from Fairy Tail sounded perfect.<br/><br/>The whole show is just completely random in my opinion. I mean seriously clown doctors, a talking teddy bear, shark people, a Jamaican starfish and pirates. I guess if you want something pirate themed with random characters I guess I could recomand it. While you are at it you mightwell chuck Spongebob, Mr Krabs, Squidward, Garry and Patrick Star into it.<br/><br/>Now for the good: For a positive side of thing the animation is very good and the art style is very well maintained. I can see how graduly it has been improvingit went along. I also think the theme song for this is very good and I guess most of the voice acting (not Lufey or Tony Tony Chopper) is decent for the dub.<br/><br/>If you like One Piece or if you want to watch it more power to you I am not going to judge or stop you. But honestly I can recommend something better like Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Dragon Ball (i am not a fan but still its better then this), One Punch Man, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, FLCL or even Seven Deadly Sins.<br/><br/>Well I know my review will get a lot of hate for this but like with all my other reviews if you don't like it theres the No button just click it. It won't affect me at all.<br/><br/>I know these reviews were 10 years ago or longer but the changes 4Kids made didn't bother. I have never seen that dub but I have seen images and videos on YouTube. I can understand them censoring smoking, blood and alcoholit's not appropriate for a kids show. But the other things are stupid. There was also a reason why that company was called 4KIDS and not 4ADULTS. <br/><br/>However, people had seem to have forgot that there is culture differences between Japan and USA/UKit might be too much for that particular audience also rules and regulations would not be the same. People just love to whine and cry about nowadays. But I am not trying to defend 4Kidsit was there fault thinking that they could make an anime that is aimed at an older audience appeal to kids.
